Lawsuit over UAE-linked World Liberty deals Copy link
Circle shareholder J. Benjamin Greenberg sued Trump, World Liberty Financial and Steve Witkoff in federal court in Washington, alleging that payments tied to Aryam Investment 1's purchase of 49% of World Liberty and to MGX's $2 billion purchase of the USD1 stablecoin violate the Constitution's foreign emoluments clause. The complaint says $187 million of Aryam's first payment went to Trump's companies.
Paid by Aryam Investment 1 and MGX, both tied to Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan
No amount is counted here: the payments the complaint describes are already counted in the World Liberty lines above. The $2 billion is MGX's purchase of USD1, not a payment to Trump.
DeniesThe White House and World Liberty Financial The White House called the suit frivolous and said there are no conflicts of interest; World Liberty said the claims are without merit. CNBC
